Summer time and the living is easy! Now with the festivities of the 4th of July behind us and the 110th celebration of our parish feast in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is complete, a little rest and relaxtion is in order for the parish. Not too much goes on in the parish during August save for the celebration of the Sacraments and preparing the school for the upcoming year.
Resting in the Lord is to be the top of our considertaion. Extra time in prayer, perhaps a visit to the Church during the day. A recitation of the rosary in your backyard with family and friends. Meditation on passages of scripture. All these things can refresh our faith, so that come September when the myriad of activities start up again in our parish we can together be refreshed and renewed.
As for me the month of August this year is a month of weddings, happily so! Usually, we don't have any August weddings, but this year, every weekend and at least one weekend has two. For better or for worse, I will be watching August brides come down our aisle and dining on wonderful wedding feasts for most of the weekends of this month. As the old wedding ritual use to conclude: "....and the rest is in the hand of God!"
